What this work gives Aellic
“When comparing studies that investigated training muscle groups between 1 to 3 days per week on a volume-equated basis, the current body of evidence indicates that frequencies of training twice a week promote superior hypertrophic outcomes to once a week” (ES 0.49 versus 0.30).
Correction of 25 July 2026
The registry rendered this paper with the OPPOSITE claim until then — here the frequency advantage survives volume equating. The claim that nothing remains once weekly volume is equated comes from the successor paper schoenfeld2019_freq ; that is also where Aellic's justification for not scoring frequency separately lives.
The entry on the register was wrong. It was not replaced but kept — with what holds instead standing next to it.
Where this sits in the engine
This work is on the register, but nothing computes with it today — mostly because the feature it belongs to has not been built yet. It is listed so the numbers on the overview do not claim more than they carry.
