A new approach to monitoring exercise training

Foster, Florhaug, Franklin, Gottschall, Hrovatin, Parker, Doleshal, Dodge · 2001 · Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research 15(1):109–115

Observational study · Rang 5 von 9

What this work gives Aellic

sRPE = RPE (0–10) × duration in minutes, deliberately collected only 30 minutes after the session, “so that particularly difficult or particularly easy segments toward the end of the exercise bout would not dominate the subject's rating”. Works entirely without a heart rate signal and also yields monotony and strain (Table 5).

Correction of 25 July 2026

The correlation of r = 0.75–0.90 previously recorded here does NOT appear in the paper — it reports no correlation coefficients at all. And the comparator is Edwards' summated heart rate zone method, not Banister's TRIMP on heart rate reserve.

The entry on the register was wrong. It was not replaced but kept — with what holds instead standing next to it.
